Squad 12

Squad 12 is a 2015 Ford F350 one-ton dually, four-wheel drive, crew cab with a Knapheide utility body, Category 4 receiver hitch and aluminum wheels.

A multi-purpose unit, Squad 12 is equipped with a slide-in CET Pumps firefighting unit in the rear. The unit includes a 300 gallon water tank, a foam cell, a 1” booster line set to be pulled from the driver’s side, a 1-3/4” crosslay set to be pulled from the passenger side, and a 1-3/4” attack line set to be pulled off the rear.

The foam system incorporates Scotty around-the-pump foam induction allowing foam to be pumped through any of the discharges. The department uses F-500 Encapsulator foam.

The pump is driven by a separate gasoline engine at the rear, giving the truck pump-and-roll capability at brush and woods fires.

A discharge manifold at the pump provides for flowing not only through the pre-connected lines, but allows the selection of four other discharges including a 2-1/2” discharge.

Most of Pine Mountain Fire Department’s call volume is EMS-related and the unit is carries BLS equipment such as trauma kit, oxygen, AED, head blocks and more. It also carries a backboard and Stokes basket.

The unit has been equipped for light-duty rescue with a chain saw, 8,500-pound winch that can be mounted front or rear, rescue harnesses and additional equipment.

The truck and utility body were purchased from Allan Vigil Ford in Morrow, on state contract pricing. The CET Pumps firefighting slip-in unit was purchased from Ten-8 in Forsyth. The Ranch Hand bumper guard and winch were purchased on state contract price from Superior Distributing in Albany. The emergency light and siren package were purchased from West Chatham Warning Devices in Preston and Dean’s Two Way in Cataula. The lettering and reflective striping were designed and applied by D&S Signs in Columbus.

Squad 12 is typically first-out for most alarms, serving as the Incident Command apparatus.

The Town of Pine Mountain funded purchase of the truck, while the other component parts were funded with SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) revenue.

The unit is owned by the Town of Pine Mountain.
