The Pine Mountain Fire Department assisted neighboring Meriwether
County units in battling a house in the Durand Community.
Pine Mountain firefighters were dispatched to the scene about 3:30
a.m., Tuesday, January 26, with Engine 1202 and six firefighters
responding to the call.
While enroute to the scene, Pine Mountain firefighters were advised
the house was fully involved.
Except for the Georgia Pacific plant, there are no fire hydrants in
the unincorporated community of Durand.
Pine Mountain firefighters arrived on the scene to find units from
the Durand and Stovall stations of the Meriwether County Fire
Department along with the Warm Springs Fire Department battling the
fire.
The house, located at 363 Gold Street, was an older two-story wood
frame design with a basement.
Pine Mountain firefighters assisted in making an aggressive interior
attack to extinguish the fire and then assisted with salvage and
overhaul. |
