Shortly before 1600 hours, Tuesday, May 18, Pine Mountain
firefighters were dispatched to the report of smoke venting from a
house on Blanchard Avenue.
The Hopewell Fire Department was dispatched as automatic mutual aid
for a possible structure fire. Due to old and small water mains in
the area, a tanker was dispatched from Pine Mountain Valley Fire
Department.
Pine Mountain firefighters arrived on the scene to find smoke, but
no fire showing.
The smoke was contained mainly in the kitchen, dining room and
living room areas and it was quickly determined the smoke was coming
from a pot that had been left on a hot burner on the stove.
The responding tanker was cancelled and Hopewell Fire Department’s
response was downgraded to non-emergency.
The resident arrived home and noted having been cooking and left to
go to a nearby store, apparently forgetting about the food on the
stove. The foot inside the pot burned and the pot had begun to warp
from the heat.
Other than the smoke, there was no damage to the house. |
