Firefighters Respond to Fatal Accident

On Friday, July 9, Pine Mountain firefighters responded to a fatal accident.

Firefighters were responding to another call when the Harris County 911 center dispatched the department to a motor vehicle accident involving a rollover.

With the first situation under control, Squad 12 and Engine 1202 responded to the motor vehicle accident located near 936 Harris Street, West which is Ga. Hwy. 18.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a small Nissan pickup truck off the roadway, sitting on its right side. The driver was determined to be trapped between the body of the truck and ground.

With no way to perform a patient assessment without first moving the truck, firefighters pushed the truck back onto its wheels.

As this was taking place, Harris County EMS arrived on the scene and determined the driver had no vital signs.

The truck had been heading east when it ran off the road and went down a short but steep embankment.

The driver was apparently traveling alone at the time of the accident which was investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
