Sparky the Fire Dog
Sparky the Fire Dog is a great friend of the Pine Mountain Fire Department.
Sparky came to Pine Mountain in 2004 thanks to a generous Fire Safety and Education Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Since then, Sparky has been a regular visitor in Harris County schools, in area parades, during area festivals and at other special events.
Children and adults love Sparky. In Pine Mountain, Sparky has danced on a stage, been on an Atlanta television station, greeted Santa Claus and has just been friendly to everybody.

Firefighters Judy Dimon and Andy Kober take Sparky for a ride during a Festival in Pine Mountain. Sparky is a regular visitor to various festivals and special events in Pine Mountain and Harris County. Sparky is riding on a Polaris Ranger donated to the Pine Mountain Fire Department by the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company’s “Operation Ranger” program. Santa Claus and Sparky prove very popular in Pine Mountain. Santa Claus is only seen during the Holiday Season, but Sparky can be seen frequently during the year.
Of all his activities, Sparky most enjoys visiting with children. Sparky is shown here visiting a class at Park Elementary School. Sparky is always a big hit with children.
Sparky has been on television! During the first MS 150 Bicycle Challenge held in Pine Mountain, WSB Channel 2 conducted an interview with Pine Mountain firefighters and Sparky was on camera.
Sparky can also dance! During a festival in Pine Mountain, Sparky joined two young ladies and a D.J. on the stage and performed to “Y-M-C-A”.
Sparky always draws a crowd of adults and children and is shown here at another festival in Pine Mountain.
A peck on the – helmet! Sparky gets a hug and kiss from Mrs. Annette Davis. This group of volunteers was serving a meal to a large group of visitors to Pine Mountain.
Sparky joins in a cake walk during a recent festival and is being helped by Mrs. Anne Simpson. Sparky actually won a cake during the calk walk!
As part of a program conducted by the Cataula Fire Department, Sparky and Smokey Bear are shown paying a visit to a group of children at Mulberry Creek Elementary School. The Pine Mountain Fire Department always attempts to make Sparky available to neighboring fire departments.
Sparky visits with a child during a festival recently held in Shiloh. Sparky proved a huge hit with the children.
A big hug! Sparky shares a hug with Chief Jack McClung of the Pine Mountain Valley Fire Department.
These young ladies had to visit with Sparky during the 2007 Christmas Parade and Party held in Waverly Hall. Sparky was visiting the festivities at the request of Chief Alex Lawski, of the Waverly Hall Fire Department.
Sparky goes for a ride in Hamilton. During All About Children Day in Hamilton, Sparky and a train load of children are shown enjoying a ride.
